District 205 parents unite to make our voices heard.
This website represents the voices of many Sandburg parents who are dissatisfied that parent-teacher conferences were eliminated at Sandburg this year. See "Background" for more information.
We believe that student-led conferences are not an acceptable replacement for structured, school-coordinated, in-person, parent-teacher conferences.
We urge Sandburg and District 205 administration to reinstate parent-teacher conferences in 2017. We have already proposed several alternatives, and are open to working together to find a solution that best meets the needs of parents, teachers, and students.

TAKE ACTION
Watch videos from the Jan 10, Feb 14, Feb 28 and Mar 21 school board meetings. The March 21 meeting includes 11 speakers! The parent-teacher conference speeches occur a few minutes into the meetings, during public comments. Thank you to the parents who have stepped up to talk directly to the board!

"I understand that I can contact teachers anytime but the parent/teacher conference is the most efficient way to do this. It eliminates lengthy and time-consuming back and forth emails and endless phone-tags. It also gives the teachers an opportunity to tell the parents about things that may not be major enough to contact a parent about outside of a conference situation. And it gives the parents a feel for the personalities and priorities of each of their children’s teachers."
